History

Crystal Lake Country Club originated in 1922 when a small group of people purchased the historic Dole Family mansion and built a nine-hole golf course on the property. The course grew quickly, and by the early 1930’s consisted of two eighteen-hole courses with swimming, tennis, riding facilities and numerous social opportunities for its members.

Many of the founding members were Chicago residents with summer homes in Crystal Lake who traveled from the city on weekends and for long-term summer vacations. The original Clubhouse had an outdoor dance pavilion and ballroom, drawing some of the nation’s big-name bands to play for its gala dances. Now, as then, members of CLCC enjoy themselves as they participate in club events.

The Club survived the hard times of the depression and seven decades later remains a center of enjoyment for hundreds of families.

CLCC enjoys a well-balanced membership of all ages from Crystal Lake and the surrounding area.
